The demand for complex reconstructive surgery at a teaching university combined with the elective nature of aesthetic surgery has allowed Dr. McDonald to approach even the most challenging cases with enormous experience and the confidence of proven results. "My transition from teaching to the private practice of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery allows me to share with my patients the enormous benefit of my years spent training other surgeons. I want my patients to experience the result of my immense experience."
Dr. McDonald believes strongly in freely sharing his God-given talent and exceptionally developed skill with those in desperate medical need. He has traveled to Columbia, south America, with Operation Smile, and he has led mission teams to Gaza, Palestine. Dr. McDonald guided a group of the University of Miami Medical School students to the Central Plateau of Haiti to perform reconstructive surgery on both the children and adults of that country. "It is truly amazing and rewarding to see doctors in their infant stages of training rise to the occasion and share the skill they have with those in need. To help these patients in their extreme need makes all of the long hard days of work so worthwhile and meaningful." according to Dr. McDonald. Most recently he has traveled to Cuba, joined by an elite medical team, in a teaching and training plastic surgery exchange.
The results of Dr.McDonald's research in Plastic Surgery have been published in the most prestigious journals of Plastic Surgery including The Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, The Annals of Plastic Surgery, and The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery.
